Human Error

As an employee, I’m proud of the idea that I’m an important part of my company.  The idea that I’m a huge part of the success of the company I work for not only gives me a sense of control over my own destiny, but it gives me a sense of pride when I see my company doing well.  It’s a little bit nerve-wracking as well though – after all, if I’m so important, then everything I do could potentially cause a major issue!  When I want to send a customer a file , I naturally want to use Box, our cloud collaboration service, but what if I send the wrong link and accidentally provide them with much more access than I was intending?  So, I can email the document.  But what if I attach the wrong file to the email?  Similarly, what if someone uses a false email address and sends a virus that can bring down our whole server?  Particularly when I was a brand new employee, these types of anxieties followed my every move.

Luckily, a coworker took pity on me and let me know that I didn’t have to worry about these things, because our company took care of them for us.  Because we use Zscaler’s full service web and email filtering security service, it didn’t matter if I accidently copied the wrong link or attached the wrong file – Zscaler would block the information from leaving our private network.  Similarly, if a virus was able to get past our spam filters and into my inbox, Zscaler steps up to ensure it’s blocked when I click on it.

I’m much less anxious now – not because I’m less likely to make mistakes (after all, as you get better at your job you get busier, right?) but because I’m secure in the knowledge that Zscaler has us covered.  One less thing for me to worry about!
